07.03.2022, Moscow.

The Russian Armed Forces opened six humanitarian corridors in Ukraine, Major General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry, said on March 7.

“As of 10 a.m. Moscow time today, a ‘ceasefire’ was declared and six humanitarian corridors were opened: one from Kiev to Gomel; two from Mariupol to Zaporozhzhye and to Rostov-on-Don; one from Kharkov to Belgorod; two from Sumy to Belgorod and to Poltava,” the statement reads.

According to the major-general, all the information was forwarded in advance to the Ukrainian side, as well as to the specialized structures of the UN, the OSCE and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Konashenkov stressed that during the opening of the humanitarian corridors, the Russian Armed Forces would carry out continuous objective monitoring of the evacuation with the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Earlier, Kiev rejected the humanitarian corridors offered by Moscow.

This was stated by Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk after the Russian General Staff announced the start of the ceasefire from 10:00 a.m. on March 7 and the opening of humanitarian corridors, demanding that the Ukrainian side fulfill the conditions for the withdrawal of civilians and foreign nationals. Vereshchuk also called on the leaders of France, Great Britain and the United States to help with “real” humanitarian corridors.
