The decree awarding the title of Hero of Russia to Senior Lieutenant Nurmagomed Gajimagomedov posthumously was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin for his feat during a special operation in Ukraine on March 3 during a meeting of the Russian Security Council.

“I am a Russian man. <…> But when I see examples of such heroism as the feat of a young guy, Nurmagomed Gajimagomedov, a native of Dagestan, of Lak ethnicity, our other soldiers… I want to say – I am a Lak, I am a Dagestanian, a Chechen, an Ingush, a Russian, a Tatar, a Jew, a Mordvin,” the Russian leader said, stressing that it is simply impossible to list more than 300 ethnic groups living Russia.

Nurmagomed Gajimagomedov, son of Ingushetia’s deputy interior minister, police colonel Engels Gajimagomedov, served in the airborne forces.

Earlier it was reported that at the cost of his life he managed to save the personnel of his unit.
