Russian Foreign Ministry: Russia has not worked out many of the retaliation measures after West’s sanctions

01.03.2022, Moscow.

Russia has not worked out retaliation measures to the West’s sanctions, which will be “an absolute boomerang” for these countries, said Spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on March 1 on the Russia 24 (VGTRK) channel.

“They must realize that the measures that they have used against our country are not only illegitimate, not only immoral, <…> but they will also return as an absolute boomerang to hit their own countries, and they are already hitting, in addition to our retaliation measures, which have not been even worked out yet,” the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman said.

Zakharova noted that these sanctions continue the West’s policy towards Russia.

“These measures (the Western countries’ sanctions) have no legal basis behind them, and actually they have nothing to do with the current situation. They continue the policy that the West follows towards our country. They are beyond any norms and rules,” Zakharova noted.

On February 24, President of Russia Vladimir Putin initiated a peace enforcement operation in Ukraine. Before that, the shelling of civilian infrastructure in Donbass intensified, and Vladimir Zelensky at the Munich Conference said that Ukraine intended to obtain nuclear weapons.

The Western countries and their allies responded to Russia’s operation with further sanctions affecting various sectors of the economy.
