Military expert: Special operation in Ukraine must stop Kiev’s aggression

25.02.2022, Moscow.

Russia’s military special operation in Ukraine was started in order to stop Kiev’s aggression, said corresponding member of the Academy of Military Sciences Aleksandr Bartosh on February 24 in a comment to the Rossa Primavera News Agency.

“This is a special military operation to prevent transformation of Ukraine into a buffer state for aggression against Russia (…) and to stop the killing of people in Donbass, where a real genocide had become everyday norm,” Bartosh believes.

According to Bartosh, many years of Russia’s efforts to channel the events into the diplomatic path, the path of the Minsk agreements, have failed.

“A decision was made to recognize the Lugansk and the Donetsk people’s republics and to provide necessary military aid to them under the signed treaty of friendship and mutual assistance. Accordingly, missile strikes were made on the Ukrainian army’s infrastructure, its airbases, control centers, communications systems, and ammunition storage facilities,” the expert explained.

In the morning of February 24, President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced that he decided to initiate a special military operation in Ukraine.

The Russian Defense Forces began to destroy Ukraine’s military infrastructure using precision strike systems.
