07.02.2022, Donetsk.

Two groups of militants from the Right Sector radical group (organization banned in Russia) have been observed at the frontline in the conflict area in Donbass, Deputy Director of People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic Colonel Eduard Basurin said at a briefing on February 7, according to Donetsk News Agency.

According to Basurin, the intelligence of the DPR reported “arrival of Ukrainian nationalists at the Donetsk direction.” According to Basurin, two units of the Right Sector radical group (organization banned in Russia) of 70 to 80 people were observed in the area of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian army.

The militants are distributed among the frontline units of the brigades at the northern and western outskirts of Donetsk. According to Basurin, these militant groups reportedly received intensive training by UK instructors before arriving to the combat area.

According to Basurin, “the Ukrainian army command is not simply reinforcing its group near the capital city of the Donetsk People’s Republic, but it is forming assault groups of ideologically motivated nationalists, which will be responsible for hostilities in the city and operating regardless of civilian casualties.”

Basurin also said that two groups of mercenaries from Poland reportedly arrived as instructors to the positions of the Ukrainian army near the town of Gorlovka. They were sent to the area of responsibility of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade, colonel said.

He explained that the mercenaries are responsible “together with Ukrainian forces for special targeted subversive and terrorist attacks against critical facilities and social infrastructure as well as intimidation of civilians”.

Since mid-January, tension has been escalating in Donbass as Kiev apparently prepares the Ukrainian army for an offensive. After the New Year and Christmas holidays, shelling has intensified, as well as relocation of additional troops to Donbass along with their reinforcement with radicals and deployment of MLRS systems and NATO weapons to the contact line.
