Donetsk News Agency: Ukrainian militants resumes shelling of DPR and LPR territories

For the first time after a prolonged observance of the ceasefire, Ukrainian militants attacked the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), the press services of the republics’ representations to the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCCC) informed on January 9, the Donetsk News Agency (DAN) reported.

The press service of the LPR representation reported that, between 9.30 and 11.40 a.m. on January 9, the Ukrainian militants fired on the Krasny Yar, Zolotoye-5 villages in the LPR, as well as the Lozovoye village (DPR), located in the area of responsibility of the LPR People’s Militia. A total of three shots were fired on the villages from 82 mm mortars, as well as 15 grenades were fired from grenade launchers. Small arms were also used.

At 11.45 a.m., the punishers shelled the village of Novaya Tavria in Priazovye, firing 18 grenades from rocket-propelled grenade launchers and automatic grenade launchers.

There has been no information about damage or casualties.

The last shelling of LNR territory by Kiev soldiers took place on December 18, while the Donetsk Republic was shelled almost daily in December. The last shelling of the DPR territory occurred on January 4.
