29.12.2021, Novosibirsk.

The Soviet experience of modernization has been a model for other countries for 70 years, professor of philosophy at Novosibirsk State University Yevgeny Ryzhenenkov said during the round table 30 years without USSR: Results and prospects held on December 25 in Novosibirsk, Rossa Primavera News Agency informs.

“One should not forget that the great importance of the Soviet experience of modernization is proven by the fact that in some aspects it has become a relevant model for many countries for almost seven decades,” the philosopher said.

According to him, many nations and countries, recently in the fetters of colonialism, faced a choice of further development. They looked to the Soviet Union as a historical precedent, allowing in the shortest possible time by historical standards, to modernize the country. In this way, they hoped to enter the circle of developed societies of the planet.

Ryzhenenkov emphasizes that in today’s world, the countries located on the periphery, through catch-up development to any appreciable level of development is extremely difficult to approach the developed capitalist countries. Such examples are isolated.

“For the vast majority of countries wishing to gain real economic sovereignty, the experience of Soviet Russia, the non-capitalist way of development implemented by the Soviet Union, was and remains promising. And it is still relevant, which means that the Soviet period in our country has not only a national significance but in essence has a global significance as well,” Ryzhenenkov concluded.

The round table “30 years without the USSR: results and prospects” was organized by the political Essence of Time movement. It was attended by historians, scientists, and public figures.
