Russia must protect itself and brotherly Belarus if the United States and NATO do not abandon their plans to deploy missile systems on the territory of Ukraine. Reserve captain of the first rank, doctor in military sciences, professor Boris Usvyatsov stated this in a conversation with Rossa Primavera News Agency on December 17.
The military expert commented on the words of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov that the prospect of accession of Ukraine to NATO with the possibility of an appearance of strike missile systems near Russian borders and reducing the flight time to a minimum poses an unacceptable threat to our country’s security.
Usvyatsov noted that today NATO needs Ukraine solely as a territory.
“The fact that today disagreement already exists inside NATO, that they do not need ‘poor and naked’ Ukraine, they need land, Ukrainian land. What for? To place what they want there,” the military expert explained.
When in response, Russia reminds them that the advancement to the east violates the agreements of 1990, “not one step back, not one step forward.” In this case, Russia also reserves the right to respond accordingly. And NATO member states have begun to think about the consequences.
“So, the Germans have already started to look very carefully too, even Norway is against the further deployment of rapid reaction forces on its territory. The cold Norwegians, Finns, and Swedes understand that if something happens, they will be the first to receive a response and become an object of preventive measures,” the expert noted.
“Everything here is already tied up with flight time and “local” matters. Where was the missile fired from? From the territory of Poland. ‘Here! Take this!’ And local situations can be unpredictable with this attitude to international politics, so now all trump cards are on the side of the foreign ministries of neighboring states. Think, guys, before you let someone in, before you make any decisions, how it can turn out,” the military expert stressed.
