Russian Foreign Ministry recommends US should remove its “small footprint” from the Middle East

27.07.2021, Moscow.

The USA should manage the consequences of their Middle East operations before re-orient to “threats” from Russia and China, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said, the Regnum information agency reported on July 27.

Zakharova cited Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General John Hyten who said that the USA should deal with the threat to the Middle East in a different way, “with a smaller footprint, so we can divert more of our body on threats in China and Russia.”

Commenting this statement, Zakharova ironically wrote, “Maybe before orienting your body towards threats you should remove your ‘small footprints’ in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria?”

According to Pentagon, as a result of the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, the militants control over half of the regional centers of the country, putting the provincial capitals under pressure.
