The US and the Western countries have made an adjustment in their ideology from being focused on the fight against international terrorists to fighting for “democracy” together with terrorists, said political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on May 23 on the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on Russia One channel.
After the terrorist attack on the US on September 11, 2001, US President George W. Bush, announced a new world agenda – the fight against international terrorism, recalled the political scientist.
“Bush at first tried to claim that he was a crusader. Then, his own brothers in arms slapped him in the face so that he stopped talking this way. I think his dad did the same, and not figuratively speaking. In any case, the idea that there is a struggle with the Islamic civilization, with this archaic nightmare, which is spreading around the world, and therefore it is necessary to be friends with Russia, was taken off the table within two weeks,” said Sergey Kurginyan.
The expert stressed that since then the fight against terrorism in the US began to mean something else. “The next ideological paradigm in fact emerged at the end of Bush’s era and not with the arrival of Biden. Later, it was prepared, developed, and now it is coming to the forefront as a replacement to the fight against terrorism, aka ‘Islam’,” said Kurginyan.
The paradigm shift from the idea of combating terrorism to the idea of combating authoritarianism was carried out in the US continuously. There is no room for cooperation between Russia and the US when the fight against ideology is replaced with the fight against authoritarian regimes.
“What does the fight against authoritarianism mean? It means the fight for the caliphate, for the processes that are taking place in Libya, Syria. If we had not stopped them in Egypt, they may have spread further in other regions,” concluded Kurginyan.
