Kurginyan: Russia will remember how Lukashenko voted against the disintegration of the USSR

29.05.2021, Moscow.

Aleksandr Lukashenko, when he was a People’s Deputy of the Supreme Council of Belarus, voted against the disintegration of the USSR in 1991, and this will be remembered forever, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on May 26 on the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on the Russia One channel.

“We will always remember that he was one of those who voted against the disintegration of the USSR. Yes, he is the most pro-Russian politician there today,” Sergey Kurginyan explained.

According to the political scientist, other politicians in Belarus are worse than Lukashenko. As to Russia “it is of utmost importance to maintain Belarus’ pro-Russian policy,” Russia will support Lukashenko.

“To us this is a matter of life and death,” the political scientist explained speaking about pro-Russian Belarus.

However, the expert criticized certain statements of the Belarusian president regarding the “beautiful country” he has created.

“He created a wonderful life there! His contribution to this life is great. But this life will be destroyed by Poland alone lifting a fonger! Poland alone, not the whole West. And he understands this,” the leader of Essence of Time stressed.

“This life, this paradise at an isolated homestaed cannot be established under the current external stress,” Sergey Kurginyan added.

On December 8, 1991, the president of three Soviet republics ― Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus ― signed the Belovezhye Accords to dissolve the USSR.

The Accords grossly violated the law of the Soviet Union and the will of the majority of the citizens of the USSR who voted for preserving the state at a referendum.
