The Ukrainian military fired 25 mortar shells on the outskirts of Gorlovka, a representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) said, answering questions from reporters at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination in Donbass on May 7.
“At 6:10 p.m., Ukrainian army units opened fire on the direction of coal mine 6/7. 25 mortar shells with a 120mm caliber were fired,” a representative of the department said.
Earlier the head of the Donetsk administration Aleksey Kulemzin wrote on his Telegram channel that the Ukrainian military shelled a village in the west of Donetsk, hitting a kindergarten. According to him, fortunately there were no casualties.
In April 2014, Ukraine started military actions against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s republics, whose residents did not accept the government, which came as a result of the coup d’etat in Kiev. According to UN, around 13,000 people have already become victims of the civil war in Ukraine.
