Political scientist: Navalny hasn't been on a hunger strike for a single day

22.04.2021, Moscow.

Blogger Alexei Navalny did not go hunger himself for a single day in the corrective colony, otherwise he would have been transferred to a separate room with special conditions, and we would certainly have heard about it. Political scientist and Associate Professor of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration Sergey Karnaukhov said this on April 21 during the Vesti FM radio broadcast.

“The explanation of the situation around Navalny’s hunger strike is very simple. One must transmit it to everyone just once. If there was any suspicion of a deterioration in his health, the penitentiary institution would use the full range of measures provided by law,” the expert said.

It would be all kinds of feeding, he explained, it would be special restrictive measures, he would be placed in a separate room, where he would be given food or force-fed under a video camera and the corresponding information would be logged daily.

“His current status indicates only one thing: Navalny has never starved himself. That’s what everyone needs to understand very well. Once again, because if he had just started starving himself, he would have been instantly moved to completely different conditions. We would have heard about it. No one would let a convict in Russian colonies to starve himself just like that. This has never happened,” stressed the political analyst.

He noted that Navalny’s provocation with the hunger strike had been designed for no other purpose than to inflame immature minds and bring young people out to unsanctioned rallies.

On April 19, the press service of the Vladimir Region Federal Penitentiary Service said that the health condition of the blogger Alexei Navalny was assessed as satisfactory; in addition, he was prescribed vitamin therapy.
