DPR envoy states that Ukraine withdraws from ceasefire agreement

15.12.2020, Donetsk.

Kiev has in fact withdrawn from the agreements on strengthening the implementation of the ceasefire, the Donetsk People’s Republic’s envoy of the Contact Group on Minsk talks Nataliya Nikonorova said to reporters on December 15.

According to her, the Ukrainian side disavowed the measures to strengthen the ceasefire. “In September, Ukraine refused to implement the most important measure – verification of ceasefire violations. Without verification of whether there has been a violation or not, these measures become declarative,” Nikonorova clarified.

She explained that in this way Ukraine simply withdrew from the agreement. For its part, the DPR is working to sign a new updated document.

“The fact that Ukraine has withdrawn from this agreement is also confirmed by the facts on the contact line, the situation is rapidly deteriorating. We are witnessing more and more violations,” Nikonorova said.

In September, the DPR and LPR authorities accused Kiev of deliberately withdrawing from the agreements on additional ceasefire measures. In September, Kiev disrupted a joint inspection of the Ukrainian security forces’ positions near Shumy village.
