Kiev is planning to send military vessels through the Kerch Strait once again in the nearest future, Yury Biryukov, the Ukrainian Defense Minister Assistant said on January 3.

According to Biryukov, Ukrainian military vessels have the right of free passage from the Black Sea to the Azov Sea and back, pursuant to international agreements. Ukrainian naval forces are already planning a new raid.

On November 25, 2018, three Ukrainian military vessels sent by Kiev performed a naval maneuver violating Articles 19 and 21 of the Law of the Sea Convention. After the Russian border Federal Security Service performed a fraternal maneuver of pushing the vessels back and gave warning shots, the Ukrainian vessels were detained together with their crews.
