28.02.2018, Moscow.

The UN representatives have not found any proof of chemical weapons use against the civilians of Damascus suburb, said the Chief Spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defence Igor Konashenkov on February 28, RT reports.

Konoshenkov claims that the mantra frequently repeated by London and Washington about the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government against civilians, this time in East Guta, had long ago turned into a farce. Meanwhile, the UN representatives that are present in Damascus and have a free access to East Guta have not once found any proof to verify the allegations, says the chief spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry.

Earlier the Western countries have more than once accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons. In late January Associated Press agency, citing the White Hemlets organization, published the information about 20 people who became victims of poison gas allegedly used by the Syrian government troops near Damascus. After that France threatened with a military strike on Syria in case the charges are proven.
