Casualties on LPR-Ukrainian border: Ukrainian army uses guided munitions

The Ukrainian army’s artillery has shelled towns and villages in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), an official of the LPR People’s Militia told a correspondent of the Rossa Primavera news agency on February 9.

According to the source, on February 7 at 6:45 pm, the Ukrainian army shelled the town of Vergulevka using 152 mm artillery. The shelling destroyed residential and household buildings at the addresses 45 and 47 Tsentralnaya St. The Tsentralnaya, Krasoarmeyskaya, and Kamo streets were left without electric power.

Also, at the same time, according to an LPR law enforcement official, the Komissarovka settlement of the Perevalsky district was shelled, where residential buildings at 9 and 12, 8 March street were damaged. A power line on Shkolnaya street was damaged.

The source emphasized that, in the previous two days, the Ukrainian army destroyed three units of military equipment with precision artillery strikes in the LRP People’s Militia Brigade’s zone of responsibility. The source stressed that “this kind of precision can only be achieved by guided munitions; drone guidance also cannot be ruled out.”

The serviceman concluded that in the period after February 1, 7,894 people had to seek help at the medical aid posts organized by the LPR’s Ministry of Emergency Situations.

On February 7, a US RQ-4B Global Hawk strategic drone, which can monitor territory up to 300 km away from the border, made a four-hour reconnaissance flight along the demarcation line in Donbass.
