The UN forces could be deployed in Donbass only if the Donetsk People’s Republic (the DPR) and Lugansk People’s Republic (the LPR) approve their mandate, said Denis Pushilin and Vladislav Deynego, the DPR and LPR envoys at the Minsk Contact Group talks on October 31, DAN Donetsk News Agency reports.
These comments follow the statement made by Kurt Volker, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations, who earlier alleged that the issue of the UN mission deployment had been settled and the opinion of the DPR and LPR was irrelevant.
“There will be no UN forces in Donbass without our consent. Our consent can be secured through negotiations in the Contact Group where we have full representation. If Mr. Volker wants to avoid the failure of his mission, he can turn to the Contact Group.
We will review his proposals and consider to what extent they meet the DPR and LPR interests,” said in the statement.
Also, the DPR and LPR representatives recommended that Mr. Volker gets acquainted with the content of the Minsk agreement, promising to send him a copy of the document according to which they are the legitimate sides of the talks.
On October 28, Konstantin Kosachev, the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council, criticized Volcker’s statement accusing the US of preparing another provocation.

Under no circumstances should DPR allow any UN {effectively nato} forces in east ukraine they will be an occupying force which will allow kiev to continue without recourse attacks on donbass. where was the UN when kiev sent their death squads into mariupol ?? Or burned and mocked them while doing it the people in the trade union house in odessa ?? or where was the UN when east ukrainians starving and without shelter asked the UN for aid when they fled to russia ?? …UN forces should be considered as hostile forces to donbass and dealt with accordingly ……remember serbia/kosovo
