Pakistani Foreign Minister: White House nurtures terrorists

28.09.2017, Pakistan.

The United States shares the responsibility for the rise of jihad in South Asia, said Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Asif at the Asia Society forum in New York, The Hindu, an Indian daily newspaper, reports on September 28.

He stressed that the terrorists who are currently operating in Pakistan were raised by Americans against the USSR during the war in Afghanistan. “Don’t blame us for the Haqqanis [the Haqqani network, a terrorist organization – Editor’s note] and don’t blame us for the Hafiz Saeeds [the head of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization and its affiliate banned political organization Jamaat-ud-Dawa Editor’s note]. These were the people who were your darlings just 20 to 30 years back. They were being dined and wined in the White House and now you say ‘go to hell Pakistanis because you are nurturing these people’,” the Minister stated.

Pakistan has stood very firmly with the US in the Soviet war, which was a wrong decision. It was a proxy war. We were used and discarded,” Muhammad Asif said.
