Security Service of Ukraine (SSU, Ukrainian: SBU) has established a special working group to develop countermeasures against “Russia’s informational aggression”, the official website of the SBU press center reported on June 27.
The group was established to discuss and analyze the proposals for countering “Russia’s aggression in the information space” received from general public, experts, mass media representatives, authorities.
Thus, it is planned to implement an initiative proposed by SBU chief Vasily Gritsak to make changes to the laws of Ukraine. He urges to carry out “a proper legal assessment of all forms and methods of Russia’s hybrid war against Ukraine”.
Earlier in May, Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko imposed a ban on a number of Russian news sites and social networks, including “Odnoklassniki”, “Vkontakte”, Mail.ru and Yandex. Poroshenko said that the ban is a measure aimed at preventing Russia from conducting a hybrid war in Ukraine.
