Radicals threaten to disrupt the Odessa international film festival

23.06.2017, Ukraine.

A film festival in Odessa is under a threat of being thwarted by Ukrainian radicals, Vesti, Ukrainian portal, reported on June 22.

Sergei Sternenko, the ex-commander of the Odessa Right Sector (organization banned inRussia ), said that „Vika Tigipko, the president of the Odessa International Film Festival (OIFF), believes that there is a civil war in Ukraine,“ commenting  on her statement in which she linked the difficulties in inviting foreign filmmakers and stars to the festival with the civil war that is going on in Ukraine.

Sternenko demanded OIFF to replace the  “separatist“ Tigipko, otherwise the entire event would “come to a nasty end.”

Both Ukrainian authorities and radical nationalists demand to consider the civil conflict in Eastern Ukraine as Russian aggression.
