Does the US ambassador to Russia ban a Rossa Primavera correspondent from his press-conference?

Answering the correspondent’s question “What is the principle of choosing the participants and who was choosing them?” the VSU representative informed, “There was no choosing. The Embassy told us. They are meeting with students from the Journalism Department and with media they’ve invited by themselves.”

According to the Law of the Russian Federation “On Mass Media” No. 2124-1 of December 27, 1991, Chapter V, Article 47 “The Rights of the Journalist”, the University administration had no right to deny the media representative permission to attend the meeting.

Kurginyan: Russian hackers are an excuse for the US establishment to get rid of Trump

US intelligence services have been trying to establish relations with scientists from the mid-20th century, the political analyst continues. That was not easy, because security services and scientists have different priorities. The challenge was to establish communications while avoiding any suffocation by the system. The situation with hackers is even more complicated. A hacker who is part of the system is a hacker who “fell asleep and died”. The main goal of a hacker is wreak havoc and to find unexpected loopholes. Therefore, it is absolutely unclear how one could find a connection between hackers and the system, the security services, and election results. Also, why is this case investigated by the FBI, an organization responsible for domestic investigations? Why is it the FBI, but not the CIA or the NSA? Apparently, they are looking for something inside the country, but there is no way to find any ties. The Americans have no idea who killed Kennedy after decades, but now they immediately find a Russian connection. This means that the establishment needs the Russian connection as a way to defeat Trump. They will either finish Trump or bargain with him. Regardless, Trump lost the very moment he accepted their rules, Sergey Kurginyan believes, “He came as a player who ignored the rules, and he should have started playing without regard for the rules. Now he recruits a straight team of economists, and he behaves as one who obeys the rules. He fired his people. In my point of view, he is a goner, maybe not now, but 6 months from now”.

Expert: Social media not only provoke protests, but can also reshape identities

The expert has stressed, that these new communication sites are a new form of community, in contrast to traditional communities. They have their own values; these groups can encourage, condone, or provoke members of society to act on behalf of the stated values, and to exploit the human quality of collectivism.

The researcher states that the current “Generation Z” (children born in 2000s), which is the most vulnerable to social media influence, expresses a pessimistic attitude to life. This means that youth “death groups” are a very easy tool to stir a member of such a society into any action, for example, to abuse other people or to commit suicide. Chorev gives an example of such a group acting in Palestine. The group bears the name of “The Road To Heaven” and is very effective in working with single people, whom they call “lone wolves”; later such people commit acts of violence.

The topic of social media influence as an instrument of soft power was directly stated in a new “cold war” strategy aimed against Russia, which was published by the Atlantic Council in late March this year. The strategy says that social media must become a key instrument of unification and cooperation between protest groups in Russia.

Turkey opposes referendum on Iraqi Kurdistan’s independence

Political leaders of the Iraqi autonomous Kurdish region said this week that they will hold a referendum on independence. They noted that they understand that this is unlikely to be welcomed by the central government in Baghdad.

The Kurdish problem is a difficult problem for Turkey. The decision of the Iraqi Kurds can serve as an example to the Turkish Kurds, who have been putting up and armed resistance to Ankara for decades, defending their right to independence.

Of note, the idea of Kurdish independence has been historically opposed by Iraq, Turkey, Iran, and Syria, who are afraid of the spread of separatism in their territories.
