Students of Makeevka school celebrated the Day of Defender of Fatherland (photos)

Celebrations dedicated to the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland took place in school No 53 in Makeevka, a Rossa Primavera News Agency reporter informed on February 23rd.

Students competed in the singing of the Soviet marching songs. “Katyusha”, “March of the Aviators”, “Sing us a song, merry wind” and other songs were heard. The upperclassmen showed their skills in doing the chin-ups.

The Rossa Primavera News agency reporter Russel Bentley, also known as Texas, presented awards to the winners of the competitions.

The sixth-grade students conveyed the greeting cards for the servicemen of “Essence of Time” unit in Donbass.

Recall that, in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland is celebrated on February 23rd; it is a state holiday.

Rossa Primavera News Agency notes that, in Ukraine, the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland was banned after the coup in 2014. In place of the cancelled holiday, the Day of the Defender of Ukraine, celebrated on October 14th and dedicated to the date of the establishment of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army1 (organization banned in Russia), was proclaimed the state holiday.
