4 civilians dead, 8 wounded after Ukrainian army shells “Elenovka” checkpoint

The number of civilians wounded in the shelling of “Elenovka” checkpoint (Donetsk People’s Republic) by the Ukrainian military increased to eight people, Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Deputy Defense Minister Eduard Basurin informed Donetsk News Agency.

Six wounded civilians were reported earlier. At least four civilians were killed including a pregnant woman.

At the moment, forensic experts and representatives of the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination, and DPR Defense Ministry, who have arrived for a detailed inspection of the scene of the emergency, are working on the spot. According to preliminary data, the fire on the checkpoint was opened around 2:45 AM from the Ukrainian positions using 120mm mortars. According to a reporter of Donetsk News Agency, who was on the spot, civilian cars were hit directly.
