Crimean Tatar “Suicide Battalions” will appear at the border of Crimea

A so-called “suicide battalion” will protect the Ukrainian-Crimean border in the Kherson region, said the leader of the Crimean Tatar nationalists Mustafa Dzhemilev on the Facebook page of the party “Petro Poroshenko Block” on April 9th, RIA Novosti news agency informed.

Despite the pretentious name, Dzhemilev states that “suicide attackers” will not undertake military actions for now, and they will confine themselves to the protection of the border. However, in a case of bloody unrest in the Crimea, “suicide attackers” would have to come to the aid of compatriots, even at the price of their lives.

Crimean Tatar nationalists, having suffered a defeat during the national referendum in the Crimea, rather aggressively sided with Kiev junta’s regime. Together with the “Right Sector” they initiated the food and energy blockade of Crimea. Most likely, the talks about the future unrest on the peninsula are just flamboyant rhetoric and the means to earn more political capital. However, the possibility of real provocations cannot be excluded.
