04.01.2016, Ukraine.

The mayor of Ukrainian city Genichesk, Kherson oblast of Ukraine, has addressed Russia asking to provide aid for the residents of the city due to very severe frosts after the city’s own gas supply was disrupted by severely cold weather. Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed to work out the question of providing gas supply to the city. Shortly after, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Kozak, has reported that Russia started supplying gas to Genichesk region.

On behalf of residents of Genichesk, the mayor of this city, with the temperature remaining low for the past days, has addressed the Russian side asking to provide gas supply in order not to let the residents of the city freeze to death,” said Dmitry Peskov, the press spokesman for the head of the Russian state.

Vladimir Putin has considered this address and, on humanity grounds, instructed to work out the question of the possibility to secure such supply, in order to help the residents of Genichesk to survive the severe frosts,” Dmitry Peskov said.

The gas is now being supplied from the territory of Crimea to Genichesky region of Kherson oblast of Ukraine,” said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak.
