The West will have to intervene directly in Ukraine. Opinion

10.04.2024, Moscow.

When the flow of Ukrainians being sent to the front dries up, the West will have to intervene directly in  Ukraine, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper,  issue 580.

The West discusses the possibility of NATO troops being deployed to Ukraine. Experts of the German Bundestag believe that a possible Russian strike on the troops of one of the NATO countries on the territory of Ukraine cannot become a basis for the application of Article 5 of the alliance’s charter (on collective defense).

According to experts, NATO’s collective reaction is possible only if Russia attacks one of the NATO countries or strikes facilities on its territory. If, for example, France deploys its troops to Ukraine and they are attacked by the Russian military there, it does not make the alliance a party to the conflict.

Surveys in Poland showed the number of citizens who support sending troops to Ukraine. According to the publication Rzeczpospolita, in 2023, only 3.4% of Poles supported the idea, but now the level of support has increased to 27.1%. At the same time, 9.4 percent of Poles support sending troops to Ukraine directly.

“This is only rhetoric now, but when the flow of Ukrainians sent to the front dries up, the West will have to intervene directly. While Poles and other former Warsaw Pact member states are dying on the front, Western Europe will have time to boost its military-industrial complex and prepare for a real ‘hot’ war,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
