Has Europe’s security system collapsed because of the Belovezhye Accords? Opinion

10.04.2024, Moscow.

The Belovezhye Accords and the collapse of the USSR destroyed the security system in Europe, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper,  issue 580.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is protecting people on its historical territories during the special operation in Ukraine. According to him, if a security system had been built in Europe after the collapse of the USSR, as Russia suggested, there would have been no special operation.

“Once again, the security system in Europe collapsed together and as a consequence of the signing of the Belovezhye Accords on the termination of the existence of the USSR,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
