The Ukrainian military again opened fire on the outskirts of Donetsk using mortars and small arms on April 15, a representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCCC) said during a briefing.

He noted that at 6.15 and 6.40 p.m. (Moscow time zone), the Ukrainian army units opened fire on “the direction of Veseloye village,” which is located between the Spartak and Peski villages to the north of Donetsk. The enemy used small arms, two 82mm mortar shells were fired, a DPR spokesman said.

He went on to say that Kiev’s representatives in the JCCCC refused to confirm the fact of the shelling when the DPR tried to engage the usual procedure for the rapid establishment of ceasefire.

The Ukrainian-Donbass conflict has recently escalated, the shelling of civil infrastructure has become more frequent, civilians and servicemen from the DPR and LPR People’s Militia have been killed. The Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire six times in the LPR during the previous day.

In Donetsk, on the night of April 14-15, a 57-year-old man was killed in his own apartment, and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation launched a criminal proceeding of this accident. DPR ombudswoman Darya Morozova said that Ukrainian security forces intentionally killed civilians in order to escalate the conflict.
