Maduro announces plan to correct government's shortcomings

The government is ready for an extensive dialogue with the people, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said at the May 1st demonstration in the city of Caracas broadcasted via the state TV channels.

According to the head of state, May 4 and 5 are declared “A great national day of dialogue”, when the government plans to accept people’s proposals for changes, improvements or correcting mistakes in the country.

He addressed this to the Bolivarian Congress of the Peoples of Venezuela, the United Socialist Party and The Simón Bolívar Great Patriotic Pole.

On April 30, the Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó announced the beginning of a military coup. During the clashes, five soldiers were injured. On the same day, Venezuelan Vice President Diosdado Cabello called for citizens to come to the presidential palace. By the end of the day, he declared the military coup attempt to have failed.
