Senior DPR commander expects Ukrainian army’s offensive on Mariupol direction

11.12.2018, Donetsk.

The Ukrainian army will start a massive offensive on the Mariupol direction on December 14, according to Deputy Commander of the DPR People’s Militia Eduard Basurin, a correspondent of the Rossa Primavera News Agency reported on December 10.

According to Eduard Basurin, intelligence data provide conclusive evidence that the Ukrainian army is preparing for a large-scale offensive. The offensive will aim at taking control over some parts of the border between the DPR and the Russian Federation near the towns of Konkovo and Kholodnoye.

According to intelligence information, a force of 12 thousand soldiers has been deployed along the contact line, reinforced with tanks, MLRSs, artillery, and mortars.

Depending the operation’s progress, the Ukrainian army plans to begin a clearing operation in the seized towns and villages against “undesirable elements.”

An expected reason for the operation’s start can become a provocation by the Ukrainian security services in Mariupol, i.e. a terrorist attack with the bombing of a chemical storage facility, blame for which would be placed on the DPR.
