Lugansk Minister of Internal Affairs: Police is performing its primary responsibilities

24.11.2017, the LPR.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (Russian: MVD) of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) is functioning normally, Police Major General I. A. Kornet said on November 23 through the MVD web site.

The law enforcement officials “have been instructed, while staying on alert to prevent any activity of Ukrainian sabotage-recon groups, to focus on primary police tasks, i.e. to counter crime and to enforce the law”. According to I. A. Kornet, the LPR’s MVD completely controls the situation in the Lugansk region.

The MVD Head also urged the people to maintain peace and order and to assist the police.

The situation in the LPR plunged into crisis after the leader of the Republic I. V. Plotnitsky dismissed I. A. Kornet from the office of the Minister of Internal Affairs. This resulted in a complicated confrontation between security services in the breakaway Republic exacerbated by the threat of another escalation of hostilities by Ukraine.
