Six unexploded roadside bombs found on the road to Saur-Mogila

Aleksandr Zakharchenko, the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, said in an interview that six roadside bombs* were found during the inspection of the road to the Saur-Mogila memorial, RIA Novosti news agency reported on May 8.

Zakharchenko informed journalists that the discovered explosive devices were neutralized. He also said that security measures during the festive events on 8 and 9 of May will be strengthened. According to a representative of the security forces, all the explosive devices found were equipped with destructive elements.

On May 8, an explosion occurred on the road to the memorial complex. This happened shortly before the departure of the journalists and official vehicles with the leader of the Republic. No victims were reported after the explosion. The operational unit commenced an investigation at the scene of the incident. The government of the Republic classifies the explosion as an act of terrorism.

As a result, today’s events, dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, had to take place at the Saur-Mogila memorial.
