Today, on October 1, the separation of sides the Donbass war was supposed to start. The first stage was planned to include withdrawal of units on three parts of the frontline: Petrovskoye village in Donetsk People’s Republic, Zolotoye village and Stanitsa Luganskaya in Lugansk People’s Republic.
Essence of Time mission in Donbass correspondent reports from Petrovskoye village near Dokuchaevsk. The representatives of the Joint Center for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC), DPR People’s Militia Operations Command Staff officers, as well as OSCE mission observers controlled the disengagement on the part of DPR.
The procedure of separation of sides was discussed in advance. After the preparation for withdrawal, at 11:00 the sides get in touch and confirm that they are ready. Each side fires a signal flare, after which the units leave their positions and fall back to prearranged positions two kilometers away from the contact line.
By the agreed time DPR People’s Militia units reported by radio their full readiness to withdraw. However, the Ukrainian side did not arrange the withdrawal. The separation of sides in the area of Petrovskoye village was moved to another date, however, no exact date and time is not known yet. 72 hours starting from today were given for the withdrawal.
Withdrawal also failed in the area of Stanitsa Luganskaya in the same way. The separation of sides took place only in the Zolotoye village. Ukraine is clearly not into the peace process and will buy time, while preparing new provocations.
