Ukrainian army attempted to breach Donetsk People’s Republic’s line of defense north of Donetsk last night, the enemy was stopped by small arms fire, DPR Operations Command informed Donetsk News Agency.
“At 20:50, on the eve of the declared full ceasefire, the enemy attempted to break through in the area of Avdeevka town on one of the areas of our defense and force DPR units from their positions. However, the enemy was stopped by small arms fire,” the Command informed.
The Command added that one infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) of the punitive forces was put out of action by an anti-tank grenade launcher. Having suffered losses, Ukrainian units started to retreat, covering their withdrawal by chaotic fire of the second IFV in the direction of the positions of the forces of the Republic.
“As a result of repelling the attack of the enemy, one serviceman of Donetsk People’s Republic died,” Operations Command informs.
On September 13 DPR Head Aleksandr Zakharchenko ordered the forces of the Republic to secure a full ceasefire “of all types of weaponry starting from midnight on the night between September 14 and 15” on the contact line.
