“Right Sector” extremists seize Orthodox temple in Western Ukraine, shout “Death to the enemies”

Kiev Patriarchate supporters, with the support of “Right Sector” extremists, seized the Saint John the Apostle temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate (UOC MP) in Kolosovaya village, Ternopol region of Ukraine, on June 10, UOC MP press-service informed on Saturday.

It is being reported that militants claimed to be the owners of the temple, cut off the locks on the doors of the buildings and invaded the temple shouting “Glory to Ukraine! Death to the enemies!”

Earlier Lvov Economic Court of Appeal denied the UOC MP community in Kolosovaya village the right of ownership of the local temple. On the same day the administrative court of appeal ruled out that the governor of Ternopol region is in his right to register the temple of the St. John the Apostle community of Kolosovaya village under the jurisdiction of Kiev Patriarchate.

As of January 2016, over 30 Orthodox temples in Ukraine were seized by extremists.
