DPR Defense Ministry: Ukrainian military fired 340 mortar shells at DPR front-line territories

On May 15th, the Ukrainian army fired 340 mortar shells at the front-line territories of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a spokesman of DPR Defense Ministry informed Donetsk News Agency on May 16th.

According to DPR Defense Ministry data, a total of 166 82mm and 120mm mortar shells were fired by the enemy. Also, anti-tank gun MT-12 “Rapira” was used 3 times; a tank was used one time. During the shelling, various kinds of grenade launchers and small arms were used.

DPR Defense Ministry informed that Zaytsevo village near Gorlovka city, the outskirts of Yasinovataya and Dokuchaevsk towns, northern suburbs and the western outskirts of Donetsk city, Sakhanka, Oktyabr, Nikolaevka, and Novaya Marievka villages in the south of DPR were shelled. The houses, No. 45, 47, and 49 on Shevchenko Street, were damaged in the shelling of Staromikhylovka village. “It must be noted that last night 64 mortar shells were fired at the villages and towns in the north-west of Donetsk within 2 hours from the Ukrainian army’s positions in Krasnogorovka and Avdeevka towns,” the spokesman of the Ministry stressed. “Brigade commanders Shaptala, Sokolov, and Delyatizkiy issued criminal orders to shell the DPR territory.

According to the representative of the Defense Ministry, the shelling of the front-line areas of DPR on the southern frontiers was conducted by ‘mercenaries from Arab countries.

All data on violations of the Minsk Agreements were handed over to representatives of the OSCE Mission and Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination,‘ the spokesman concluded.

During the night of May 15th, the Ukrainian army fired almost 65 mortar shells at the outskirts of Donetsk and Yasinovataya, and the south of DPR.
