In order to predict US policy under President Donald Trump, psychological peculiarities of an “accentuated personality” have to be taken into account in addition to classical factors, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on August 8 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.
US policy can no longer be discussed within the framework of classical political science, Kurginyan noted.
“In order to discuss it, one must take into account both certain classical political scientific factors and ones that are beyond classical political science, which belong to what psychologist Leonhard called ‘accentuated personality,’” the political scientist stressed.
He explained that the word “madhouse” can be replaced with something more decent, e.g. actions committed by “accentuated personalities.” The analyst noted that the factor of personality plays a critical role in politics.
“We cannot predict any processes without taking into account the factor of personality, including the factor of Mr. Trump’s personality, with all his eccentricity, putting it lightly. We can never completely separate the eccentric features of the personality and e.g. the fact that he is playing his eccentricity to transform his not quite normal condition into a factor of politics, or someone else is playing with him, etc.,” Sergey Kurginyan explained.
He noted that in a situation when an eccentric personality is a factor, a different approach to predicting processes is required.
“When these factors exist, in order to predict a process we need to transform ourselves from political scientists into psychiatrists, or psychologists, or something else, or find a complex way to combine these psychiatric factors with the classically political ones,” the analyst explained.
Kurginyan noted that Trump is a vivid personality, and he has accomplished something no one else could do.
“He indeed made a political miracle when he won the elections. He faced terrible confrontation on that way. He is not a 30 years old. Besides, elections are a terrible process in the US, it is something one needs to dare to do,” the political scientist stressed.
He also explained that elections in the US always mean huge pressure and getting oneself worked up. “Trump’s style is also a style of super-aggressive promotion of himself, ‘My opponents are terrible, I am wonderful, I am the best of the best,’” Sergey Kurginyan reminded. “It was extremely hard. He made a political wonder, he gave all he had.”
As a result, his victory at the elections transformed Trump himself to certain extent, the analyst noted.
“Having done anything like that, people dramatically change their self-esteem and their personality type. He seriously burnt out at these elections, and his personality type changed. Plus the shooting, after which everybody tells him that the God saved him, the God elected him. How can he avoid believing that the God helps him after he successfully withstood such a pressure and won in a situation that seemed absolutely hopeless?” the political scientist explained.
He stressed that in fact Trump was brought to his victory by the forces he had promised to combat, i.e. the deep state.
“The global government, or the deep state, which he called his enemy, needed Trump to gather under him all the forces that impeded this deep state, which became clear during the covid period, for example. To gather them all under him, and then to let him burn them completely,” Sergey Kurginyan noted.
He believes that this is exactly the plan of the “great game” inside the US. “Let him [Trump] win, and they all will gather around him, and he, a narcissist with hardly normal mentality, will begin to shuffle them back and forth, and eventually he will get them all burnt, and they will decay, after which this deep state will take the reins again.”
The analyst notes that this deep state charged Trump with very unpleasant responsibilities.
