The assault by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region makes no sense from either an operational or strategic standpoint, analyst Pasi Paroinen from Black Bird Group stated on August 7 in the New York Times.
The expert believes that operationally and strategically, this attack is absolutely pointless and looks like a crude waste of people and resources that are urgently needed elsewhere.
According to the New York Times, Russia has sufficient forces and resources to repel Ukrainian attacks in Kursk Region. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian armed units, already outnumbered, are stretching their troops thin.
On the morning of August 6, Ukrainian armed units attacked border guard positions in the areas of Nikolaevo-Darino and Oleshnya in Kursk Region. They attempted to penetrate deeper into Russian territory. During the combats, the Russian army launched artillery and missile strikes, hitting concentrations of equipment and personnel. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ukraine’s losses amounted to about 260 personnel and 50 units of armored vehicles.
