03.08.2023, Moscow.

The Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin urged considered the UN to consider the issue of compensation to the peoples of Africa for the damage inflicted by the United States, France, and the United Kingdom on August 3 on his Telegram channel.

“Africa has the right not only to manage its own wealth, but also to compensation for the damage inflicted on it by colonizers,” the politician said.

He recalled that the prosperity of the United States, France, the United Kingdom and other European countries was largely based on the plunder and enslavement of Africa. He cited the slave trade as an example.

During the period of colonialism, 15 million slaves were moved from Africa, Volodin said. “Time is passing, but the colonial interests of the United States and a number of Western countries have not disappeared anywhere,” he emphasized.

The politician noted that it is the methods that changed, but the US, the UK and France continue to plunder valuable resources from Africa.

Niger saw a coup d’état at the end of July. One of the first measures of the new authorities was a ban on uranium exports to France, for which it is a significant share of imports.
