The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Pakistan discussed plans for military cooperation in border security and counterterrorism, Tasnim news agency reported on July 16.

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Major General Asim Munir met with IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami in Tehran June 15. They discussed military cooperation.

Salami noted that clashes in border areas destabilize security in the region. He said it is necessary to develop a common strategy to suppress hostile actions on the common border.

The IRGC is ready to work in cooperation with the Pakistani army to change the security conditions on the border between the two countries and turn them into economic borders,” the Iranian general said.

Salami noted that the IRGC considers “Pakistan’s security as our own security.” He said the cooperation will help end terrorist groups.

Munir said Pakistan is ready to work together.
