The surrender of Krasny Liman became a regrettable event in Russian military history, and it is a result of the destruction of the heritage of the Soviet military machine, according to the Black October editorial comment to the world news in the reports from the war theater in The Essence of Time newspaper.
Major Russian politicians strongly criticized the Russian Defense Ministry after the retreating from Krasny Liman and the surrender of the city to the Ukrainian army. The leader of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov blamed the commander of the Central Military District for mistakes, and he urged the Russian Defense Ministry to take more drastic actions. Businessman Evgeny Prigozhin whom the media associate with the Wagner PMC supported Kadyrov’s statement.
Former Commander of the 58th Army, Duma member Lieutenant General Andrey Gurulev called the surrender of Krasny Liman a pivotal military and political milestone. He pointed out the mistakes of the Russian military command, which failed to timely reinforce its group and to correctly assess the situation. According to the Duma member, the problem was widespread lies and reports about the good situation at the front. Renowned military correspondents Aleksandr Sladkov and Aleksandr Kharchenko spoke in support of Commander of the Central Military District Aleksandr Lapin, and they urged to stop public disputes during the special operation.
“The surrender of Krasny Liman is not just a regrettable event in Russian military history, this is an expectable consequence of the destruction of the Soviet military machine, which had been built exactly to confront the entire West. But the most outrageous was three weeks of promises that the situation would reverse shortly, that a regrouping of forces was ongoing, that reserves were accumulating, and that we should not discuss the current situation to the benefit of the enemy,” the editorial comment of The Essence of Time newspaper reads.
The enemy has entered a Russian city, it tortures and kills our citizens there, but the civic society has not been given the name of the one accountable for the failure in Krasny Liman, the newspaper analysts write.
