The world has changed, and the postmodern core of the contemporary West hates its past, associated with Modernity, Christian values, and development, said philosopher, political scientist, leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in an interview to the ONT Belarusian TV channel.
Kurginyan recalled that when the Soviet Union collapsed, Russia sought to join the Europe of Modernity, the Europe of traditional values, which no longer exists, since the world has changed.
“The Europe of Modernity is all about the Christian culture, respect for the family, morality. What do we have now? Sodom and Gomorrah of increasing gravity. Any madness, some totalitarian tricks within what they call democracy. Is that Europe? It is different,” Kurginyan said.
Kurginyan revealed the nature of the changes that have occurred to the Western world in recent decades, when the West decided to arrest the development of Third World countries.
“The world has changed. A postmodern core has emerged, which, listen to me, hates Modernity. It hates itself, its past. Why did thet beat that poor Mubarak ? Or someone who was pro-American? For Modernity, for modernizing Egypt and Syria. They don’t need it; they find it hostile. Quite hostile, you can’t strengthen the modernist periphery.”
The Western elite has long been talking about this change. Condoleezza Rice declared in the mid-2000s that former US allies are now enemies. US Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama have said that the US is changing its policy to a diametrically opposite direction.
“Could Israel hear. So the point is that they want a caliphate there. Why? Because they don‘t want Modernity,” Kurginyan said.
Attempts to modernize and become like the West raise the question – what kind of West should we be like?
“This is a different West. It’s very different. And in this sense, sociocultural problems are even more acute than the military,” Sergey Kurginyan emphasized.
Kurginyan said that the Belarusian pro-Western groups that tried to carry out a coup d’état in Belarus last year are actually very fierce and completely undemocratic. In addition, these pro-Western groups have neither tolerance nor respect for someone else’ point of view, they do not have these values, they only want to cut out their opponents.
“If they had not been stopped, some massacre would have started in six months. It would just have started. Escalation, escalation, then massacre, and then Lithuania, the Lithuanian past and something else. Naturally, Catholicism,” the political scientist said.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on June 20, 2005 said in her speech at the American University in Cairo: “For 60 years, my country, the United States, pursued stability at the expense of democracy in this region here in the Middle East and we achieved neither. Now, we are taking a different course… It is time to abandon the excuses that are made to avoid the hard work of democracy”.
A little later in the same year of 2005, US President George W. Bush, speaking in the United States at the National Endowment for Democracy, said that the United States stands with its friends in the Middle East. Among these friends, Bush named dissidents and exiles fighting against despotic regimes. “Because we know that the dissidents of today will be the democratic leaders of tomorrow.”
