It used to be better. What changed in Donbass with Zelinsky’s presidency?

09.06.2019, Donetsk.

The quantity of shelling has increased since Vladimir Zelensky won the presidency in Ukraine, the head of the non-recognized Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin said, RBK reports on June 7.

Pushilin believes that the newly elected president manipulates facts placing the responsibility on Russia and on the militia for the shelling. The head of the DPR also said that Zelensky is not capable of ceasing fire as he has little influence on the situation.

The day before Pushilin’s statement, the head of the Ukrainian delegation in the Contact Group on settlement of the conflict in Donbass, Leonid Kushma, proposed that the parties prohibit return fire in the conflict zone and establish this initiative in legislation.

“Today we must show all the world that we want this ceasefire,” said the diplomat.
