Kurginyan: We must stay alert as US is falling but remaining a deadly threat

11.09.2026, Moscow.

The US is gradually losing its hegemonic world power positions, but it remains extremely dangerous, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on August 21 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.

“There is nothing more disgusting than the US’ attitude to us,” the political scientist stressed, and he said that the US poses a deadly threat to Russia.

“It is a deadly threat to us. It will never accept anything but our destruction, regardless of any kinds of guise like ‘the spirit of Anchorage’ or alike,” political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said. He called any attempts to hide it just words, quoting Shakespeare’s Hamlet, “Words, words, words.”

The US is very dangerous. “It went mad in the 21st century having defeated the Soviet Union, and it transformed into something very anti-humanistic and deadly,” the political scientist noted, and he added that the weakening of the US power is definitely good news for anyone who lives with the interests of Russia and global humanism in the whole.

“And its power is really declining. It is declining in Iran and elsewhere,” the political scientist stressed.

According to him, there is nothing more dangerous for the Russians now than “even a slightest loss of alert on any direction”

He urged to pay attention to the Russian president’s visit to the Kuril Islands. This visit “exactly indicated that our president always remains on alert. He definitely understood the consequences of this visit,” the political scientist noted, and he stressed that these consequences were realized by the Russian diplomacy and the president himself.

The hegemonic power will be falling in a slow and very disgusting manner, similar to the Roman Empire after Augustus, Sergey Kurginyan said. The philosopher noted that the first Roman emperor Octavian Augustus “understood that his golden age was the beginning of the decline of Rome.”

The political scientist stressed that this process had many reasons. Rome “declined in a special manner, i.e. through bloody convulsions, through increasing anger as it felt its own decline, through self-empowerment, through most fierce methods, against the understanding of its own decline.”

Kurginyan noted that in that situation Rome should have been more focused on its domestic problems, but it refused to stop its expansion. “This is typical of this kind of hegemonic powers leading to their absolute collapse,” the philosopher stressed.

The political scientist reminded that when the Huns were devastating Rome “they loaded their loot on wagons drawn by patrician women instead of oxen. And they drew the wagons being beaten with a whips.” “That was a special pleasure of a barbarian who defeated Rome. And it will happen again,” he stressed. He believes that history will repeat in this aspect, but this is a remote future, and the nerve of the current situation is something else.

“The current moment is different, it is a moment of some madness of Trump, a fight inside the Unites States itself, idiotic convulsions with Iran without any idea about what kind of an old power you are trying to deal with using so blatant colonial methods. And so on,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
