For the Russian fleet, a newest unmanned ship will be built — Commander-in-Chief of the Navy

26.07.2026, Russia.

Russia is developing a large unmanned ship for submarine search, said Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Alexander Moiseev on July 26 on the air of the program “Military Acceptance” on the Zvezda TV channel.

The main task of the newest ship will be the search for underwater objects, he said.

According to him, this project is fundamentally new for the fleet and is included in the current rearmament program. In the future, it is planned to develop an entire area of unmanned ships based on this vessel.

We can say that this is a new class of ship. This is a ship without a crew, it is included in the current state armament program,” Moiseev noted.

At the SAHA 2026 defense exhibition, held in May this year in Istanbul, the Turkish company ASELSAN presented two new unmanned maritime vehicles: the TUFAN kamikaze surface craft and the KILIÇ 200 underwater vehicle. Both platforms are designed for asymmetric operations, swarm attacks, and covert target engagement with low unit cost.
