The right-wing conservatism in Europe will be radicalized for a war against Russia, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on July 10 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
According to the political scientist, in order to confront the Soviet Union during the cold war the West began to gradually lift its pressure from fascists for the atrocities of the concentration camps and other crimes of the Third Reich, because for such a confrontation, Kurginyan believes, pacifists and similar groups were inadequate. For a war, militarized forces were required, and in Germany and other countries those are fascist groups.
“These groups began to receive intense promotion and escalation along with special training etc. A secondary fascistization began, because they are a critical actor in any war. They understand that they are not needed in peace but they are needed in times of war,” the philosopher said.
According to the leader of Essence of Time, the world is facing a new and much crueler variation of the processes that took place during the cold war. The expert expressed confidence that the “war 2.0” will happen sooner or later, although it remains to be seen whether it will be cold or not.
Kurginyan stressed that no one wants any states possessing nuclear weapons to become involved in such a war because any first exchange of strikes will entail further escalation. At the same time, states that have no such weapons are supposed to be forced into the process and militarized. In particular, this applies to Germany.
The philosopher believes that such a militarization is impossible without an ideological pivotal change, but this poses another very urgent issue of international politics and the existential sector.
According to the political scientist, the conservatives and the entire right-wing spectrum look like people who meet the conventional standards of values, decency, and rejection of “excessively blatant perversions.” This is why the rightists enjoy natural sympathy, especially because they often speak the language of Christian moral and indicate that they are not willing to combat Russia.
The leader of Essence of Time finds the intention to be friends with these right-wing conservatives reasonable, organic, and having no alternative, especially because Russia itself claims to be conservative. However, in this case, the experts stressed, an inevitable question arises about the content of such a conservatism. Kurginyan believes that the right-wing bloc that has been built will be radicalized and actuated exactly for a war against Russia.
“When this right-wing radicalism is finally completed and actuated, it will be for a war against us but not for peace with us. And it is the force that will fight against us because the leftists will refuse to fight,” Kurginyan said.
According to the political scientist, the rightists are ready to fight and they understand that their time has come. Trump, Kurginyan believes, has given new opportunities to them; he essentially said, “you raise funds on your own” and “you fight on your own.”
As a result, Russia is in a strange situation: on the one hand, it sympathizes with those it feels organically close and sending positive signals so far, but on the other hand, it is exactly this force that can become the core of mobilization against it.
“And these rightists will control the force that will perform this mobilization,” Kurginyan concluded.
