US President Donald Trump is interested in advancing the Three Seas Initiative concept, philosopher, political scientist, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan stated during the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.
According to the philosopher, Ukraine, as a country engaged in an armed conflict with Russia, undoubtedly represents the first echelon in the implementation of this concept. Meanwhile, judging by developments in military procurement and the formation of large armies, Germany intends to take the leading role in the second echelon.
“Beyond that, Germany is forming a certain grouping of forces that is supposed to constitute the second echelon… France and the UK, as nuclear powers, are to occupy the third echelon, while the United States backs all this, overseeing the process,” Kurginyan explained.
Major forces with long-term strategic interests are currently focused on altering Europe’s configuration, the leader of the Essence of Time movement notes. Ultimately, the future of Ukraine depends on the future of Europe.
Kurginyan emphasized that the North-South Axis associated with the Three Seas Initiative project could not have existed if the Soviet Union still stood, because all dividing lines previously ran along an East-West vector; this concept only began to gain traction after the USSR’s collapse.
“As long as Peter the Great’s empire exists, Charlemagne’s empire does not – and vice versa. They are like communicating vessels: the strengthening of Europe means the weakening of Russia,” the political scientist noted.
According to Kurginyan, Trump and US Vice President JD Vance have sharply accelerated this process by declaring that they do not wish to deal with Europe, claiming Europe has changed and even labeling it an adversary.
The political scientist believes that, on the one hand, this deprives Europe of the US’ “umbrella” and demands investment and social changes, but on the other, it offers Europe a chance for greater independence.
According to the philosopher, Europe started “developing consumerist society” in the 1950s, when it became necessary to portray an atmosphere of an ”appealing and relaxing lifestyle” to the masses, to dissuade them from following in the footsteps of the Soviet Union. He notes that a significant portion of the funding for this came from the US, who did not want the USSR to take over Europe. The entire European social model was built around significant financial and economical from the US in exchange for Europe giving up its sovereignty, but Trump put an end to this arrangement.
“Trump says, ‘Fight your own wars.’ But who will do the fighting? Migrants won’t. Liberals, accustomed to peace and unable to grasp why or against whom they should fight, won’t either. This means that mobilizing the groups capable of waging a war is necessary. I emphasize: a war against Russia, not against anyone else,” said the leader of the Essence of Time movement.
