Kurginyan: Cult of death in the modern world takes on an occult character

The cult of death in the modern world is taking on an occult character; its followers revere chaos, deeming it more powerful than the cosmos, political scientist, philosopher, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan stated on May 29  during the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.

The political scientist noted that today’s terrorist acts have transformed into a form of postmodern “terror-show” that cannot exist without television, and “all of this is aimed at developing a culture of death.” According to him, this cult of death – which appeals to the most destructive qualities within the human nature – is spreading across the globe.

“The cult of death is emerging as something distinctly occult. And if it is occult, then what – and in what temples – do these people worship? And they do worship, that’s beyond doubts,” said the leader of the Essence of Time movement.

Sergey Kurginyan explained that the primary symbol of this cult is the Black Sun. He recalled that at Wewelsburg Castle – where Heinrich Himmler, one of the leading figures of Nazi Germany, established the SS Black Order – the Black Sun was depicted in a floor mosaic, and SS members prayed to it, literally “banging their foreheads against it.”

“This means it is a deeply anti-Christian and, of course, Gnostic religious culture of death,” the political scientist emphasized, adding that manifestations of this culture can be observed in show business, pornography, and the mass media.

At the same time, Kurginyan pointed out that within the so-called “free” internet, social media and online networks, processes of capital concentration are unfolding an astonishing rate.

“This means that something is slowly and monotonously making its way to power. To global power, to be precised,” he noted.

At the same time, the political scientist emphasized that a cult of death cannot be reconciled with Christianity or any other religion, because every religion – to a greater or lesser extent – ‘thinks in terms of love and life,” and cannot harbor total reverence for chaos or a desire to utterly discredit the cosmos.

“The entire concept of good and evil – built on the premise that evil is ultimately a mistake and the Devil is merely God’s ape – is tumbling into the abyss, being replaced by a completely different concept in which chaos is more powerful than the cosmos,” Kurginyan said, describing the situation.
