Kurginyan explains how transformation of Europe is unfolding

Europe is undergoing a transformation against the backdrop of global events, political scientist, philosopher, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on April 25 on the Right to Know program on the TVC channel.

According to the analyst, entirely new systems are developing within Europe, which is plagued by internal conflicts and undergoing certain transformation.

Europe is trying to develop a new system or perhaps a forgotten old one. Take Germany, for instance, which is set to rearm at an accelerated pace. And we have seen this kind of Germany before. We have seen it twice. I would like to draw attention to one specific issue. We are often told that Germany is Russia’s natural ally. And that is true! There is nothing more organic than the German-Russian union. However, the other side of the coin is two world wars,” Kurginyan noted.

He noted that, in light of this, the constant discourse regarding the necessity of Russian-German friendship inevitably runs up against a fundamental reality: certain processes unfold in a specific, recurring pattern – two nations engage in friendly relations for some time, only for war to break out eventually. According to the political scientist, Russia must constantly keep this historical memory in the back of its mind.

“From a situational standpoint, one thing is happening; yet from a strategic perspective, something else entirely different is taking place. Magyar is essentially Orbán, but viewed from a different angle – more active, and more sophisticated. Behind him, the Habsburgs and the idea of the Austro-Hungarian Empire loom even stronger. And behind all this looms the transformation of Europe. The end of this Brussels and the emergence of some other structures, plus militarization. And where is this heading? It is heading toward the return of the configuration of the era preceding the First World War,” the analyst emphasized.

According to Kurginyan, the return of the Austro-Hungarian Empire represents the next stage, while the preceding stage was the return of the Ottoman Empire.

Which direction will Europe chose while in the process of transformation? What forces will emerge? And which claims will be made to justify this? Furthermore, against this backdrop, how should we view such exotic narratives as the Palantir manifesto and the ideas articulated within it? The proposal that is hardly convincing and, nonetheless, highly conceptual at the same time? Where are we headed? Toward the ‘Dark Enlightenment.’ […] Where is this heading in terms of constants of historical systems, rather than merely in terms of geopolitics? For geopolitics merely provides the conditions for the historical systems,” the political scientist observed.

According to the analyst, the Soviet philosopher Alexander Zinoviev came up with a highly original theory positing that capitalism is not a distinct historical system in its own right, but rather a transitional phase – a bridge leading from a humanized feudalism to a de-humanized feudalism.

“I mentioned dehumanized feudalism in connection with Palantir, Silicon Valley, the Dark Enlightenment, Bannon, and everything else that, of course, seeks to build a new world on the ruins of a very fundamental structure known as Modernity – with its ideas of  enlightenment, humanism, the secular state, and much more. […] The resulting structure will be far more grim – albeit, perhaps, more amorphous – than the Third Reich. And that, indeed, is precisely the direction in which things are developing,” the political scientist concluded.

In April, Palantir Technologies Inc., an American publicly traded company, released its manifesto. The document advocates for the military application of AI, the bolstering of US defensive capabilities, and the forging of an alliance between Silicon Valley and the state. Furthermore, it signals an ideological paradigm shift wherein technology ceases to be perceived as a neutral instrument of progress and humanization, and is instead recast as a weapon of selection, control, and the coercive restructuring of the world.
